Bermuda Tourism Authority's Marketing Awarded by Peers
For the second year in a row, the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s work promoting the island to travellers was recognised by the Hotel Sales & Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) Adrian Awards. The latest accolades include recognition for the efforts to get the TODAY Show to the island in May 2017 for two one-hour broadcasts as a precursor to the 35th America’s Cup.
The HSMAI Adrian Awards competition is comprised of multiple categories in three entry divisions: advertising, public relations, and digital marketing. The Bermuda Tourism Authority won in two of the three divisions at a ceremony in New York City on February 20th, 2018:
- Public Relations: The TODAY Show on-location broadcast from Bermuda received a Gold Adrian Award
- Digital Marketing: The “Out Here” video series received a Gold Adrian Award
- Digital Marketing: GoToBermuda.com received a Silver Adrian Award
Bermuda Tourism Authority CEO Kevin Dallas and members of the New York City-based marketing team attended the event to collect the hardware.
A year ago, for work conducted in 2016, the Bermuda Tourism Authority and its public relations partner, TURNER PR won a Best of Show honour in public relations – the highest praise HSMAI can bestow. “Bermuda: Finding an Island’s Adventurous Side” was considered a meaningful PR campaign because it helped attract a younger generation of travellers to the island.
Bermuda’s tourism industry achieved its most impressive performance in a decade last year with the number of leisure air visitors and the money they spent on-island surging to double-digit percentage growth. Additionally, 2017 brought the highest number of visitors to the island in recorded history. The 692,947 total arrivals is the best statistical performance dating back to 1965.
