BTA Tourism Outlook Forum switched to Live Webinar
Tomorrow’s Tourism Outlook Forum examining 2020 challenges and opportunities has been converted to a free, live webinar to satisfy public-health concerns around coronavirus.
Although Bermuda has no confirmed cases of COVID-19 to date, the Bermuda government has urged the community to practise social distancing and avoid gatherings of more than 50 people. As a result, the second annual forum, hosted by Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) and the Ministry of Tourism & Transport, will no longer take place at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI). Instead, industry stakeholders are encouraged to register to attend the forum via a free webinar on Monday, March 16, from 4:30 to 6 pm.
“This forum offers important resources and is an opportunity for collective discussion among our industry stakeholders about the year ahead,” said Glenn Jones, Interim CEO for the BTA. “We appreciate this is an important annual gathering. That’s why the team thought through contingencies from the start. Thanks to that foresight, we can proceed with a webinar and provide the industry with information it needs and deserves, despite the new barriers we all face around public gatherings.”
The no-cost event will cover threats and opportunities in the coming year and explore collaborative efforts needed to tackle them.
Jones will join Minister of Tourism & Transport Zane DeSilva as a speaker at the event, along with industry experts, including representatives from Bermuda Hotels Association (BHA), St Regis Bermuda, and Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting (APAC). Current data will be shared to aid stakeholders in decision-making, and a variety of industry thought leaders will participate in a panel discussion.
Airlift forecast, cruise calls, Bermuda’s new airport and hotels, National Tourism Plan strategic priorities—and the growing and significant impact of coronavirus—are key topics on the agenda.
