Hamilton Visitors Service Centre Relocates as Iconic Structure Retires
The iconic pink-and-blue container structure near Hamilton Harbour, initially built for the 2017 America’s Cup and later converted into the Bermuda Visitors Service Centre (BVSC), is being dismantled after nearly six years on Front Street. Visitor services will continue in Hamilton as the Hamilton Visitors Service Centre will officially close its doors at the container structure on February 12 and will transition operations to the Hamilton Ferry Terminal starting February 13, 2025. During this transition, BVSC team members will provide roaming ambassador services throughout the city.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Owen Darrell explained, “The BVSC team will now be stationed inside the Hamilton Ferry Terminal, offering tourism information, excursion bookings, and transportation passes or tokens. BTA roaming ambassadors will assist visitors with recommendations, directions, and travel advice throughout the city. Complimentary Wi-Fi will still be available in the area for visitors.”
Seasonal operating hours for BVSC locations are as follows: Dockyard will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm or 8 am to 4 pm when a cruise ship is in port; St. George’s will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm; and Hamilton will be open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. Additionally, BTA’s popular merchandise will soon be available at the new location with special offers for locals.
The Marine and Ports Service welcomed the transition, noting that the partnership with BTA strengthens their collaboration and enhances visitor experiences.
Minister of Transport, Wayne Furbert said, “The relocation of the Hamilton Visitors Service Centre to the ferry terminal ensures continued support at a key transit point. With public transportation being the primary mode of travel for many visitors, this move keeps essential services easily accessible.”
Jakai Franks, BTA VP Operations, stated: "Positioning our visitor services at the ferry terminal makes perfect sense. Our team will continue to assist visitors as they explore the island and guide visitors to an enhanced visitor experience."
The BTA remains committed to providing a seamless and welcoming experience for all visitors to Bermuda.
