Restaurant Weeks, Delivered

Eating out is not the only way to enjoy Bermuda Restaurant Weeks this year. It’s also possible to eat in.  Two local companies are geared up to deliver restaurant weeks meals to visitors at their accommodation or to residents where they live and work.

Sargasso Sea and Five Star Delivery are working with participating restaurant weeks eateries to list many of the special multi-course menus on their platforms so diners can access the benefits of the promotion, just as if they were dining out.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) contacted the delivery service operators to ensure accessibility to Restaurant Weeks meals was not interrupted by COVID-19 safety protocols.  Both Sargasso Sea and Five Star responded favourably and quickly.

“While this is a smart pivot that meets the challenge of the day, we also see this as a meaningful shift for the long haul,” said Glenn Jones, BTA interim CEO and chief experience development officer. “Food delivery can’t replace the delight of dining at a restaurant, but it can keep the revenue flowing when eating out isn’t possible.

“It’s clear to us that contactless customer experiences are a permanent consumer expectation, these digital solutions are helping our destination meet this traveller desire—even long after Restaurant Weeks is over.  The BTA is proud to partner with Sargasso Sea, Five Star Delivery and other small businesses focused on frictionless customer experiences.”

Stretching four weeks instead of three to mark its 10th anniversary, Restaurant Weeks 2021 includes more than 35 participating restaurants offering locavore-inspired menus and unbeatable price points for multi-course lunch and dinner meals ($22 to $52 per person). More than half of the Restaurant Weeks meals are more available for delivery this year.
