About The Exclusive Peppercorn Ceremony Visitor Experience
Hosted by Long Story Short and The Corporation of St. George
Put on your garden party best and come celebrate this Official State Ceremony celebration! When Bermuda's capital moved to the City of Hamilton in 1815, Bermuda's oldest surviving building and the island's first House of Parliament and Courthouse, the State House, became the headquarters of the Freemasons Lodge after striking a deal, with the then-governor to pay one peppercorn a year for rent. Every year the Peppercorn Ceremony is held to commemorate this agreement, and this year, will also be on Saint George day, the namesake of our town.
Meet your host, Kristin White, at 10:00 am in the square of St. Georges.
Your Peppercorn Package includes:
- Special reserved seating with a host
- View the ceremony, which includes Bermuda Regiment and Scottish Bagpipers
- Access to the exclusive garden party
- Light refreshments including wine, rum swizzle, and soft drinks
- Mix and mingle with Bermuda Freemasons and local dignitaries
- Private tour of the State House
Elegant Garden Party Attire:
- Men: orning suit or blazers with dress trousers, a collared shirt, and dress shoes. A tie is optional but recommended.
- Women: Formal day wear. Elegant dresses, skirts, or dressy pantsuits. Hats and fascinators are highly encouraged for a touch of traditional charm.
