SNORKEL PARK: FULL SERVICE & FUN
With space for bonfires, live music stage and DJ set-up Snorkel Park’s multi-functional facilities are ideal for all types of events. At the edge of the Royal Naval Dockyard with high walls surrounding the entrance, this enclosed outdoor event venue brings true beachy island vibes to small, afternoon retreats, large-scale barbecues, weddings, shows and more. The complex has all you need: an on-site kitchen, bathrooms, multiple bar stations, seating, a stage and a private beach. There is enough room for up to 5,000 attendees. To set the scene, the historic Keep Fort presides over one end, while a roomy terrace bar overlooks the lagoon-like bay, shallow reefs and sunken cannons. Watersports and beach activities can be arranged, including treasure hunts, tug of war, volleyball tournaments and games, guaranteed to make the time unforgettable.
FORT HAMILTON: HISTORY & NATURAL BEAUTY
Built by the British in 1870, Fort Hamilton is now a public park offering panoramic views of Hamilton Harbour. The beautifully manicured upper lawns can accommodate up to 500 guests. The lush gardens and historic stone ramparts make for a magical landscape for weddings and event. Guests can explore the underground passages and dungeons to the upper battlements for sensational views of the City of Hamilton. Parking is limited; however, shuttles are an excellent solution. Close to a residential neighbourhood, events are restricted to daytime and evening.
PIER 6: VERSATILE & ON THE WATER
Fully customizable and centrally located on Front Street, Pier 6 is an exceptional, year-round outdoor event space with 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space and panoramic views of Hamilton Harbour. Laid bare, this purpose-built structure allows for productions ranging from intimate to large. The perfect stage for conventions, weddings, concerts and private gatherings, up to 450 guests fit comfortably inside and 550 can fit on the patio. VICTUALLING YARD: A HISTORIC MARITIME TREASURE
The site of community celebrations, including Oktoberfest and the Christmas Market as well as many a wedding, the Victorian victualling yard is an historical treasure – though it was once a storage area for food and drink supplies of the Royal Navy. Managed by the West End Development Corporation (WEDCO), the open square is lined by palmettos and two large historic buildings once used as warehouse spaces. The romantic, open air venue is gorgeous for saying vows and receptions can be held in one of the many indoor venues and restaurants in the Royal Naval Dockyard.
BARR’S BAY PARK: FEEL THE HARBOUR BREEZE
With water access, street parking and entry directly from Front Street, Barr’s Bay Park is a top choice for outdoor events. Overlooking Hamilton Harbour, and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club marina, it has played host to the Bermuda Street Food Festival, summer concerts, fitness classes and yoga events. It’s easy to close off the space for exclusive events – a winding footpath is ideal for controlled entry and exit. Even with a capacity of up to 2000, events feel intimate and special.
GREAT VIEWS AT SCAUR HILL FORT PARK
Overlooking the Great Sound and Ely’s Harbour, Scaur Hill Fort and Park is a favourite space for dramatic views and outdoor events where you need to make an impact. Sitting alongside the old Railway Trail, the historic fort offers some of the best panoramic views of Bermuda’s West End. Built in the late 1860s, it includes a massive dry moat backed by tall ramparts that once held a pair of 64-pound cannons. The surrounding park encompasses 22 acres, with many paths, picnic areas and restroom facilities. It is easily accessible by car or bus.
LUSH EAST END BEAUTY IN SOMERS GARDEN
A UNESCO World Heritage site at the heart of St. George’s, Somers Garden is a gorgeous park with a moon gate and flower gardens just off of King's Square. Romantic and steeped in history, it was named for Sir George Somers, whose heart is reportedly buried in the peaceful space. A popular outdoor event space for weddings and picnics, it has also played host to a Christmas light display and ice-skating rink. Local vendors and restaurants are close at hand, making it a dream space for outdoor gatherings.
HAWKINS ISLAND: AN EXCLUSIVE SOIRÉE
A precious hideaway in the Great Sound, this 25-acre private island boasts lush woodland and a private beach. Available for exclusive hire and operated by The Waterfront Properties Group on Pitts Bay, it offers a level of privacy that is unparalleled. Small but brimming with natural beauty, Long Island’s Island House is a picturesque property, popular for weddings and receptions. The venue can accommodate 150 people. Rental includes parking for guests at Waterfront Properties, as well as an events manager to coordinate catering, bar, staffing and tents. Ceremonies are typically hosted on the Western Lawn overlooking Paradise Lake; the Eastern and Upper Lawn face the Great Sound and are ideal for seated dinner events. Photo opportunities can be found on the patios, balconies, rustic arbour and natural surroundings. The island’s small peninsula even has a tiny lighthouse.
SECLUDED SANDS IN JOBSON’S COVE, CHAPLIN BAY AND STONEHOLE BAY
On the island’s celebrated South Shore, you can claim a stretch of pink sand all your own for beachside wedding ceremonies, farm-to-table dinners, barbecues and bonfires. Intimate and enclosed, Jobson’s Cove can be reached from the coastal walking trail from Warwick Long Bay Beach. Further along is Chaplin Bay and its twin beach, Stonehole Bay. All three possess calm waters and dramatic limestone rock-dotted hideaways. Bathroom facilities can be found along the trail at Warwick Long Bay.
