Is January a Good Time to go to Bermuda?

Yes, visiting Bermuda in February is a great way to experience the island’s allure at your pace, whether that means indulging in relaxing spa experiences or enjoying thrilling wind sports. February is still considered the off-season, and the peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere makes it an ideal retreat for many. Mild weather and abundant sunshine sweeten the deal. Major airlines offer short, nonstop flights from various US East Coast cities, making travel to Bermuda a breeze.

Top Things to Do in Bermuda in February

When planning your trip to Bermuda in February, take advantage of the island’s mild winter weather with refreshing outdoor activities or fun cultural experiences all month long.

Enjoy Thrilling Wind Sports

In winter, Bermuda transforms into a playground for adrenaline junkies who love the rush of wind sports. Whether that’s kiteboarding or windsurfing, the favourable winds and turquoise waters create the perfect setting for an unforgettable ride. Pack a wetsuit or ask a local outfitter about wetsuit rental. For a different kind of adventure, set off on a sailing excursion to see the island from another point of view.

Indulge in Spa Month

Experience the holistic haven of Bermuda during Spa Month. Book wellness therapies and luxurious treatments for some well-deserved pampering. Many top resort spas and wellness centers offer deals and discounts throughout the month.

Beyond spa treatments, focus on recharging by adding health and fitness to your itinerary. Run, walk, or cycle scenic trails that wind through lush landscapes and reveal stunning coastal views, or book a paddleboard yoga class to get out on the water.

For some retail therapy, treat yourself to some shopping at high-end local boutiques and find treasures like pink-sand jewellery.

Embrace Natural Attractions & Outdoor Fun

Horseback riding along the beach is only allowed at certain times of the year, and February is one of those times. See the scenic coastline from a different perspective as you enjoy this memorable, soul-satisfying experience.

For more communing with nature, explore pristine parks such as Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve or Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, where you can enjoy quality wintertime birdwatching. Or go beachcombing to find treasures like shells, bits of coral, or mermaid’s purses (egg cases from sharks and other sea creatures). Take only pictures, though – it’s against the law to remove anything from Bermuda’s beaches.

Treat your special someone to a private plane tour with Blue Sky Flights, an intimate dinner at a waterfront restaurant, or a bespoke picnic on the beach. Whatever your romantic style, the island’s alluring made-for-two experiences will make your celebration one to remember.

Mild Weather for a Winter Warm-Up

Visiting Bermuda in February, chances are good that you’ll warm up your winter with abundant sunshine and relatively mild temps. But although tradewinds help keep the island at a comfortable temperature for outdoor fun, you’ll want to be prepared for weather that can be windy, rainy, and even cold.

February temperatures average 70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 degrees Celsius during the day and can fall into the 60s (Fahrenheit) at night. When the sun shines, the weather is blissful – but northerly winds often make the evenings chilly and breezy, and occasional rain showers can make them cold and wet. When the weather isn’t ideal, explore the island’s many indoor attractions, including museums and the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.

Can You Swim in Bermuda in February?

The favourable air temperatures are ideal for spending time outside and on the water. Swimming is possible for some as the average water temperature is 64 degrees Fahrenheit, 18 degrees Celsius, but it may be more suitable for swimming or SCUBA diving with a wetsuit. It’s well worth donning a wetsuit, though – the ocean waters offer even more visibility in the winter, making spotting sea life easier.

What to Wear in Bermuda in February

Pack a mix of long and short-sleeved clothing and a light jacket so you can add or remove layers throughout the day. Layering is key to staying comfortable and being prepared for any windy, chilly weather that may blow through. It’s also a good idea to bring a light rain jacket.

Men can pack button-up shirts as many restaurants ask gentlemen to dress up for dinner. Classy sports jackets or suits are common. Ladies can pack dressy sweaters and long-sleeved dresses.

Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit or wetsuit for on-the-water activities. Many hotels heat their pools as well.
