SNORKEL PARK BEACH: IDEAL FOR FAMILIES

The calm, clear water here gently flows over sunken cannons and lively reefs teeming with colourful fish. You have everything you need here: a water park, a restaurant, bathrooms and lockers for valuables. Choose your beach day adventure with an array of available rentals, including stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, snorkelling gear and float toys. Activities run the gamut from scuba diving and jet ski safaris to boat rentals.

You’ll also find family-friendly events. On certain nights, this beach transforms into an adults-only nightclub. The beach is located within the Royal Naval Dockyard complex, so opportunities to explore local history (and find an icy treat) abound.

HIDDEN BEACHES: ASTWOOD COVE, SOUTHLANDS PARK & JOBSONS COVE

If you’re the kind of person who loves a chance for a little solitude, head to Astwood Cove Beach, which is tucked away amidst steep cliffs. This stunning beach sits at the bottom of cliffside Astwood Park. You can get to the beach via hiking down a somewhat steep trail (which might not be suitable for children and individuals with mobility challenges). The park offers amenities, including bathrooms, parking and picnic tables. The only soundtrack to your Bermuda reverie will be the gentle sound of waves rolling in.

Find peace, quiet and a beautiful slice of pink sand at Southlands Beach, a stretch of shoreline just north of Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe Bay along the South Shore that recently opened to the public. It’s part of the estate of the same name known for a sprawling banyan grove and the ruins of a building dating back to 1745 – also worth a wander.

For a serene departure from the buzz at Horseshoe Bay Beach, hop just to the north over to Jobson’s Cove via a sandy trail. It’s a secluded stretch of sand where dramatic limestone formations that jut out into the surf make for incredibly calm, lagoon-like water. You’ll find amenities at nearby beaches, including Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay, which is just a short walk to the north.

CHURCH BAY: SNORKELLING HOT SPOT

Snorkelling at Church Bay is like stepping into a giant aquarium. The South Shore beach is simply swimming with brilliant parrotfish and angelfish, thanks to the shallow reef that fosters marine life while protecting the shoreline from larger waves. A park of the same name overlooks the beach and has all the basic amenities, including bathrooms, picnic areas and a concession stand where you can rent snorkelling equipment.

Also excellent for snorkelling is Jobson’s Cove, where calm, clear waters and plenty of colourful reef fish abound.
